“Large” e “small” geralmente são termos usados para expressar variações ou alterações no tamanho, nas dimensões ou na massa. “High” e “low” geralmente são usados para expressar níveis ou valores numéricos. “Large” e “small” são frequentemente usados de maneira errada onde seria melhor usar “high” e “low”.

Exemplos:

RUIM: A low amount of the brain’s capacity is needed for survival instincts.
BOM: A small amount of the brain’s capacity is needed for survival instincts.

RUIM: A high fluctuation in average migration of gazelles was detected between June 4 and 18.
BOM: A large fluctuation in average migration of gazelles was detected between June 4 and 18.
